One paragraph, no buried lede
Scrunch (40 signals, all G2) and Profound (51 signals, G2/Reddit/YouTube) compete for a similar buyer — mid-market to enterprise teams tracking AI search visibility — and one of our own Scrunch reviewers made the comparison directly, calling it more intuitive “compared to other tools in the market like Profound AI.” The two samples don't look alike: Scrunch's signals split exactly 20 positive to 20 negative, while Profound's run 46 negative to 5 positive. Some of that gap is an artifact of how G2 reviews get sourced — nearly all of Profound's reviews are seller-invited, and we exclude solicited praise on principle, while every Scrunch review we read was tagged Organic — but it doesn't explain all of it. The more interesting finding sits inside the positive column: every other AI-visibility monitor we've reviewed on this site (Otterly, Peec, and Profound itself) draws a recurring diagnostics-only, no-execution complaint. Scrunch is the first one in our count where multiple, independent reviewers say the opposite — that it “actually helps guide our strategy and content planning” rather than just reporting a problem.
What users like
Profound's 5 positive signals are real but thin — buyers praise its tracking breadth and, twice, the trustworthiness of its diagnostics. Scrunch's 20 positive signals are broader and more specific, spread across support, tracking depth, and a theme none of our other GEO monitors draw much of: buyers describing the tool as strategic, not just diagnostic.
Common complaints
Profound's 46 negative signals concentrate hard in three themes: pricing (12), onboarding difficulty (10), and methodology doubt about how it sources its underlying data (8) — 30 of 46 complaints, all pointing at the same three doors. Scrunch's 20 negative signals don't concentrate anywhere near as hard; its two largest themes are tied at 5 signals each — interface roughness (spinning wheels, feature-dense navigation, persona tags you can't remove) and missing reporting features, wanting PDF report generation, SVG chart exports, or a way to ask “what kind of content is working for each prompt topic” in plain language — not about the core product being wrong or overpriced.
The one complaint pattern that does show up more than once for Scrunch, across three separate and independent reviewers, is tracking-accuracy inconsistency: one reviewer found “the system says we are not mentioned but our brands are in the results”, a second found “inconsistencies between brand mentions on citation dashboard versus when you click in”, and a third reported tracking that “will randomly skip for a day… I won't get ChatGPT results for a given prompt, but I'll get other LLM results.” None of these are catastrophic on their own, but three unrelated reviewers independently flagging some version of the same data-reliability gap is worth taking seriously if you're planning to report these numbers to a client.
Scrunch also draws the single sharpest complaint in this comparison, and it's not about the product: “The sales process was frustrating. Terms shifted multiple times during negotiation — pricing confirmed in writing got retracted, and the contract didn't match verbal commitments on several points. Took 10+ days and multiple rounds to finalize.” Their advice: “Get everything in writing and verify every line of the contract before signing.”
Pricing: the clearest split in the count
Profound draws 12 pricing-high complaints and zero fair-value praise in our sample. Scrunch draws zero pricing-high complaints and 2 fair-value praise signals — buyers who tested “pretty much every AI Visibility measurement tool on the market” and singled out Scrunch's price as a differentiator, not a drawback. Scrunch's own listing has a small internal inconsistency worth flagging: G2's pricing box lists its Core plan at $250/month, while Scrunch's own product description on that same page says pricing “starting at $300 per month” — the two numbers don't match, so budget for the higher one until you get a real quote.
| TOOL | ENTRY PLAN | WHAT BUYERS SAY |
|---|---|---|
| Scrunch | $250–300+/mo | Called competitively priced and best-value by buyers who compared it against the category; one agency reviewer notes each additional LLM tracked counts against the same prompt quota |
| Profound | $99–399+/mo | Growth tier includes 3 seats; top-tier deals run “mid four figures per month” per one buyer who ran demos; no free trial at any tier |
Who should skip which
Skip Scrunch if you need polished, client-ready reporting out of the box. Reporting is Scrunch's single largest complaint theme in our count (5 signals) — no built-in PDF export, no SVG chart download, no plain-language rollup of what's working. Agencies currently route around this with the API, which not every reviewer felt equipped to use themselves.
Skip Profound if you're a small business, solo marketer, or agency running lean. This is the single most repeated pattern in Profound's half of the count — not that it doesn't work, but that it's priced and packaged for a buyer with an enterprise budget and no free trial to test that assumption first. Its methodology-doubt cluster (8 signals, zero equivalent for Scrunch in our count) is also worth reading before the sales call.
Weigh company maturity either way. Scrunch's signal profile looks better across nearly every theme we counted, but its G2 sample (73 reviews total) is a fraction of Profound's (1,124) — a newer product with a shorter track record, even a well-reviewed one. And Scrunch is the only tool in this comparison with a documented sales-process complaint on record; ask for terms in writing before you sign anything.
Alternatives that came up in the same research
Otterly and Peec were the names that came up most often as budget-tier alternatives to both tools in this comparison — both already covered in our Otterly vs Rankscale vs Peec comparison. One Scrunch reviewer specifically described switching away from Semrush's AI Overview tooling in favor of Scrunch, calling it “a great decision…” We also encountered a “Dageno AI vs Profound vs Scrunch AI” comparison post during this research that named Dageno AI the winner in every category — but the post was written and posted by an account sharing a name with the tool's own founder, moderating the subreddit it was posted in, so we're excluding it entirely rather than repeating any of its claims about Dageno, Profound, or Scrunch.

Match the tool to your situation
Scrunch
The only monitor in our count that repeatedly breaks the diagnostics-only pattern. Balanced sentiment, strong support signal — budget separately for reporting workarounds.
Profound
Widest LLM coverage and the largest review base of the two. Budget absorbs the price; the methodology-doubt cluster is worth reading before the sales call.
Anyone about to commit
Scrunch's better average comes with a shorter track record and the one contract-negotiation complaint in this comparison. Profound's track record comes with no free trial. Get terms in writing before either.
